The article explains the minimum resource requirements to successfully run UpSearch’s proprietary Microsoft SQL Server inventory Tool (‘Tool’ or ‘Application). The Data Estate Assessment for SQL Server is powered by this Tool, an on-premises, agentless desktop Application with a small installation footprint. The digitally signed and antivirus whitelisted Tool finds, verifies, and collects information about each Microsoft SQL Server instance and the underlying Windows Operating System.

Minimum Resource Requirements

  • Operating System: Windows 10 or later.
  • Processor: A dual-core 1.5GHz processor.
  • Architecture: 64-bit executable.
  • .NET Framework: Version 4.6.2 or later.
  • RAM: 8 GB or higher.
  • Hard Disk Space: 316 MB (app 60 MB & results 256 MB).
  • Internal Connection: Required.

Supported SQL Server and Operating System Versions

These resource requirements are necessary to enable the Tool to collect information from Microsoft SQL Server 2000 or higher, running on Windows 2000 or higher. All on-premise and cloud virtual machines joined to the domain are searched.

The Tool utilizes SQL Server Shared Management Objects (SMO) and Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI) to collect information.
