Shawn Upchurch

Shawn Upchurch is a trusted advisor to leaders worldwide. He is a business leader, executive coach, social entrepreneur and fierce advocate for equality. Shawn's passion is to embolden leaders to achieve greatness, however they define it.

Shawn has a unique ability to interpret, simplify and solve complex issues that accelerates alignment between cultural, human and technology capital. Since the early 1990s, Shawn has been helping leaders think more deeply about their organizations.

As founder of UpSearch, Shawn has united 5 companies under the UpSearch banner to support client's ever-changing needs. He is currently incubating 4 more businesses.

Shawn has advised hundreds of board members, business owners, executives and aspiring future leaders to achieve lasting change for themselves, their teams and their organizations. As a practicing scholar, Shawn continues to work closely with leaders and help them adapt and thrive under huge constraints and pressures by intentionally managing change.

Shawn is a fierce advocate for equality. He is an active member of Pi Lambda Phi International Fraternity, the first non-sectarian fraternal order dedicated to eliminating prejudice. Shawn has actively served the organization since 1991, including as Vice President of the International Executive Council and chairperson of numerous mission critical committees. From strategic planning and the launch of an international philanthropy (The Elimination of Prejudice) to improving knowledge transfers with web based training, Shawn thrives on advocating for a better understanding between people.

Shawn holds a M.B.A. (Systems Management) and B.A. (Economics) from Baldwin-Wallace College. He earned an Emotional and Social Competency Inventory (ESCI) Accreditation from Case Western Reserve University’s Weatherhead School of Management.

Shawn is a life-long student of Leadership, Emotional Intelligence and Equality. His interests include the role of transformational leadership in board governance, civic stewardship, nonprofit leadership and community building. As father of two premature children, Shawn has broad interests in helping preemies thrive and believes every life has equal value.
